Changes to the 2011 Jeep Compass include a new front end, rear LED lights, new roof rails, new 17-inch aluminum wheels and optional 18-inch chrome wheels. Safety features, including standard front air bags, stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist with manual transmission, side curtain air bags for all rows and available front-seat-mounted side air bags.
In addition to the base front-wheel-drive version, also available are the Freedom Drive I and the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package. Freedom Drive I is an available full-time, active all-wheel-drive system with lock mode. The Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package is an available four-wheel-drive system that delivers “Trail Rated” capability.
For 2011, the little Jeep Compass becomes grand – as in Grand Cherokee. A miniature Grand Cherokee
The updated Jeep Compass sports new hood lines, headlights, front fenders and fascia that closely resemble the Grand Cherokee's.
Black plastic lower side cladding now graces every model in the lineup, protecting the bodywork when drivers venture off the beaten path. It perfectly matches the front and rear aprons, also draped in black plastic. Each one comes in 2WD and 4WD configurations.
Considered by some to be more of a crossover-styled wagon than an SUV, the Jeep Compass fully independent suspension and front-wheel-drive version were both firsts for Jeep. But it was also the only model within Jeep’s lineup with a four-wheel-drive system not “Trail Rated” for more extreme off-road duties.
The powertrain, which the Jeep Compass shares with the Patriot, remains as before. In addition to the standard front-wheel-drive system, the "Jeep Compass" is available with Freedom-Drive I 4×4 and the new Freedom-Drive II Off-Road Package. Standard wheels are 17-inch aluminum rims, with 18-inch aluminum or chrome-clad wheels on the Limited.

2011 Jeep Liberty Reviews
For 2011 Jeep Liberty gets a passenger side, instrument panel-mounted grab handle. Featuring the Jeep-engineered, coil spring independent front suspension, 2011 Jeep Liberty combines excellent overall ride, handling and precise steering control on-road with Jeep 4×4 capability.
2011 jeep Liberty’s Jeep-engineered, coil spring independent front suspension combines with a link-coil rear suspension to provide exceptional on-road refinement, while maintaining its legendary Jeep 4×4 off-road capability and durability.
All Jeep Liberty models are available in both two- and four-wheel drive. A tire-pressure monitor and hands-free cell-phone link are newly available on 2011 jeep Liberty. 2011 Jeep Liberty’s Command-Trac 4WD must be disengaged on dry pavement. "2011 jeep Liberty’s" 5000-lb towing capacity is tops among compact SUVs. "2011 jeep Liberty" has standard 16-inch wheels; 17s are optional on some models.
2011 Jeep Liberty is created to expand the breadth of the Jeep lineup and broaden the brand’s global appeal.
The Jeep Liberty gets a new steering wheel and some new radio/infotainment interfaces for 2011.
The 2011 Jeep Liberty is a compact SUV available in Sport, Renegade and Limited trim levels. The Limited includes the Popular Equipment Group and adds 17-inch wheels, exterior chrome trim, heated power front seats (six-way driver, two-way passenger), driver memory functions, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and an eight-speaker sound system. The Comfort/Convenience Group adds rear parking sensors, remote ignition and automatic climate control. Also optional are 18-inch chrome-clad wheels.
A navigation system can be added to the Media Center, and the two together are available on all Liberty trims. The 2011 Jeep Liberty is powered by a 3.7-liter V6 that produces 210 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. The Sport and Limited can be equipped with rear-wheel drive or a choice of two 4WD systems: part-time Command-Trac II or full-time Selec-Trac II. In Edmunds performance testing, a Liberty Limited 4x4 went from zero to 60 mph in a sluggish 10.2 seconds -- slower than most four-cylinder-powered compact SUVs. The 2WD Liberty returns an EPA-estimated 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined, while 4WD returns 15/21/17. With the optional towing equipment group, the Liberty can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
The Liberty comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability control, active front head restraints and side curtain airbags. The 2011 Jeep Liberty has not been rated using the government's new, more strenuous 2011 crash testing procedures.
The 2011 Jeep Liberty rides comfortably enough, but its on-road handling abilities disappoint, with vague steering and pronounced body roll. Like most other Jeeps, though, the Liberty receives high marks for its off-road prowess.
The 2011 Jeep Liberty ranks 20 out of 24 Affordable Compact SUVs. Jeep designed the 2011 Liberty to be a good-looking off-road SUV. The Liberty meets these standards, but compared to more capable compact SUVs like the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Nissan Xterra that offer better fuel economy, increased cargo space and a cheaper price, the Jeep Liberty is easy to pass up.
Why buy a Liberty if it obviously isn’t the best car in the class? Unfortunately, you’ll have to compromise fuel economy. The Sportage also has all-wheel drive options, but those start at $21,795, which is still cheaper than the Jeep Liberty.
The Liberty is available in three trim levels -- Sport, Renegade and Limited -- which offer four-wheel drive systems.
