A sujeira também pode impregnar os bicos injetores, reduzindo sua condição ideal de trabalho. Além disso o carro bicombustível não pode ficar parado por muito tempo (mais de quatro dias). A mistura se separa devido a densidade variada dos elementos. Assim a água é o primeiro líquido a ir ao motor quando ele é ligado. O módulo que controla o funcionamento flex não reconhece a água. O motor falha. Portanto procure rodar apenas com um combustível. Quem roda pouco deve usar gasolina. Os flexíveis que usam ou só álcool ou só gasolina têm menos problemas que os abastecidos com a mistura dos dois. Não é recomendável fazer a conversão. Além da calibração dos parâmetros de mistura ar-combustível e de ignição específica para cada modelo de motor - um processo demorado que dificilmente será cumprido pelas oficinas de conversão -, há a questão de a taxa de compressão dos motores a gasolina ser bem mais baixa que aquela que proporciona pleno aproveitamento do etanol (álcool etílico). Desse fato resultará consumo elevado, o que anularia a potencial vantagem. Além disso, certos componentes teriam de ser substituídos para resistir ao etanol, casos da bomba de combustível e da bóia do tanque. E as válvulas e as sedes de válvulas no cabeçote poderiam se desgastar mais rápido.Como Funciona
